The Cross County Boys Basketball team made the state tournament for the second year in a row. Last season, the Cougars finished with a 24-6 record and took home 3rd place. This year, they entered the tournament as the 3rd seed and were projected to lose in the first round to Cedar Catholic. Against the odds, the boys won a nail-biter on Thursday, 41-38. It was a true team effort, with three players—Wyatt, Brock, and Langdon—nearly recording a double-double, which is having at least 10 points and 10 assists or 10 points and 10 rebounds. On Friday, the Cougars faced a hot #7 seed, West Holt. Once again, it was a close game, and the Cougars emerged victorious, 45-43. Sawyer drew a foul while making a 3-pointer, completing a clutch 4-point play. The Cougars advanced to the Championship game against the 8th-seeded Archbishop Bergan Knights but came up short, losing 53-43. This was Cross County's first trip to the state finals in school history. They finished the season with a remarkable 26-3 record. Congratulations to the coaches and players!
