State Speech

On March 27th, seven Cougar speakers traveled to Kearney for the NSAA State Speech competitions. Junior Kylie participated in Extemporaneous Speaking, a competition where speakers are given one hour to prepare a seven-minute speech on a drawn current event topic. Senior Revin participated in POI, a ten-minute-long speech where speakers splice together prose, poetry, and drama literature. Junior Emaree participated in Persuasive Speaking, a ten-minute-long speech aimed at outlining a personal opinion on a persuasive topic. Sisters Senior Ava and Freshman Lilly participated in Duet Acting, an event where two actors perform a speech from a published play. Sophomore Ella, Senior Ellasyn, Revin, Lilly, and Ava participated in OID, where three to five people perform a 15-minute script using boxes as their only props.

Senior Revin brought home a gold state medal, and the OID team brought home a bronze medal. Congratulations, coaches and speakers, on a successful season!
